Ball position at address is critical
I teach three basic ball positions for the full swing.
- Play the ball in the middle of your stance-6 iron through wedges.
- Hybrids and long irons, play the ball two or three inches off the left heel.
- The woods, the long shafts, play the ball off the left instep.
When hitting short irons, the ball must be played in the middle of the stance.
When hitting short irons, the ball CANNOT be played forward in the stance.
When hitting woods the ball must be played forward, almost off the left big toe.
When hitting woods, the ball cannot be played in the center of the stance.
If the ball is too far forward with short irons & wedges, you’ll often top the ball.
If the ball is too far back with your woods, you’ll tend to hit to the right.
Ball position is critical.
